GLP’s Week of Land System Science | June 15–19, 2026

Published on March 17, 2026

We're excited to announce the inaugural Week of Land System Science — a global, community-driven online event. Bringing together the whole GLP: our working groups, nodal offices, early career researchers, fellows, SSC, and at-large members, it is a chance to advance our science, strengthen our community, and co-create our collective future.

Taking place June 15–19, 2026, the week will run across global time zones with a mix of open and closed session formats We invite you to be a part of it: organize a webinar, propose a town hall topic, gather your working group or nodal office for a paper writing sprint, put forward a training session, or kick off a collaboration you’ve been meaning to start.

The week is also an opportunity to spark cross- and intraregional connections, shining a light on the richness and breadth of land science happening across the network.

Sessions are community-organized — which means we want to hear from you. Consider organizing a session around:

  • Shared research challenges in your region, working group, or research theme/community

  • Emerging questions at the frontier of land system science

  • Conversations you've been wanting to have with the GLP community

  • Cross-working-group or cross-regional collaborations

  • Capacity building, training, or early career activities

  • Science communication, policy engagement, or advocacy

To propose a session, fill out our submission form: GLP Week of LSS Session Submission Form

A week to connect, reflect, and help shape the future of land system science — come help us build it together in June!
